Liz from Distant Sea adores documenting the magic and mayhem as your North Canterbury wedding’s photographic storyteller.

Your wedding day is the focal point in your love story. Distant Sea is your storyteller, crafting a narrative that speaks of the real love you have for each other and for the special people in your life. Documenting the magic and the mayhem, Liz will create and preserve powerful memories that will last for a lifetime—and beyond.

Tell us all about your business? I love to capture large extravagant parties, intimate gatherings, and everything in between. My goal is to document your day in a way that is authentically “you”, whether through still images or filming. I offer a personally tailored experience that starts long before the morning of your wedding day. I’m here to help you plan out your schedule and scout the best locations, and to make sure you look and feel great in front of the camera. On your wedding day, I want you to relax and enjoy yourself, and I will be there to capture it all for you.

What’s your mission for every couple who chooses your business? It’s so important to have a good connection with the person who is going to be right there with you through it all, documenting the most important day of your life. By the end of it all, we’re most likely going to be friends! I’m a relaxed, easy-going extrovert – my goal is to help you enjoy every moment of your wedding day and to create the most amazing memories for you to look back on for years to come.

Bonus tip about your business? It’s a good idea to book your photographer as soon as you’ve booked your venue (some people choose their photographer first!). Photographers often book out quite far in advance, sometimes a year or two ahead, especially in summer months. Personally, I like to keep some spots open for people who decide to get married on a shorter timeframe, so it’s always worth asking if I’m available.

My service to you doesn’t end when the wedding is over! I put a lot of time and attention into delivering the highest quality images, and I also provide a full printing service. If you love physically holding your images and experiencing them in print, there is a range of stunning heirloom albums and wall-art feature products I love to design for you.

Make sure you take the time to look at a photographer’s portfolio (website, social media, etc) so you can see if their style suits you. It’s also important to meet your photographer before you book so you can decide if you’re a good fit. Meeting my couples is one of my favourite parts of the job – I love getting to know you. We’ll be spending a lot of time together!
