North Canterbury creative Katie Jenssen has the unique ability to make any occasion memorable, be it hosting a pottery class for a Hen’s Do to hiring out unique ceramic vases for weddings.

Katie Jenssen is a ceramic artist based in Kaiapoi and works full-time from her studio The Pottery Place inside the Kaiapoi Mill, where she also teaches pottery classes. Katie uses clay from Aotearoa and sand from beaches in North Canterbury, making these vases extra special with a local touch for your wedding day.

Tell us about your business? I work full time making unique ceramic creations ranging from mugs to wall art. I also teach pottery classes inside my studio, The Pottery Place in Kaiapoi. I open up my studio once a month for shop sales. I love taking private group workshops including Hen’s Dos!

What’s your mission for every couple who chooses your business? I want each couple to have the wedding of their dreams. By offering my handmade ceramic vases speckled with sand from North Canterbury beaches you can have those special touches for your wedding day without blowing the budget.

Bonus tip about your business? I love connecting with locals and you can also book a private pottery class for your Hen’s do where you and your friends get to create your own creations out of clay.
