Sarah is a North Canterbury-based celebrant and is able to officiate in the wider Canterbury area, too.
Congratulations! This is a really exciting time and I’m so pleased you have considered Sarah to help deliver your special day. A wedding is a significant occasion, and Sarah appreciates you are going through a very special (and possibly overwhelming!) time of your life! Sarah loves guiding couples to craft a ceremony that uniquely reflects them. She loves the quirky as much as the traditional, supersized ceremony or intimate elopement. Sarah will take the stress out of it, so everyone can enjoy a relaxed wedding day. Everyone has a unique story to share, and she can’t wait to hear yours!
Tell us about yourself? I’m a registered independent marriage and civil union celebrant and MC. I’m a member of CANZ and have completed training with The Celebrant School.
I have recently become a celebrant following the amazing experience of getting hitched to my husband, Cameron, and commencing an exciting new stage of my life after the close births of my two children, Annie and Hugo in 2020 and 2021.
We’re based in Oxford where we farm in view of the snowy mountains and enjoy the fresh southern air! Prior to embracing family life, I worked as a lawyer, and later in the commercial world. My professional background helps me with the few legal requirements of officiating ceremonies, as well as a strong foundation in public speaking and presentation.
Creativity and careful planning are the cornerstones of how I run my everyday life – extremely important when wrangling two under two! Ultimately, delivering your dream day and helping make beautiful memories is what drives my passion.
Tell us about your style? My style is easy-going and fun. I’m known for being warm and approachable, and enjoy working with people from all walks of life. I pride myself on being organised – which is key to having a relaxed day! I love to chip in, and have been known to lend my skills to last minute flower-arrangements, candle-lighting, or even dog grooming. I am an open communicator and timely responder!
Best part of any ceremony for you? I LOVE having the privilege of giving “the nod” to an expectant newly-wed to turn around and look at their significant other coming to meet them to commence the next part of the rest of their lives together! This is just a joy to be part of and such a memorable part of any ceremony.
Favourite things? I have a naughty Golden Retriever, named Ben, who is like a third child and ensures I get the absolute minimum exercise each day! Walking Ben commonly involves a double-decker pram, a busy toddler, noisy baby, and takeaway coffee. We also must stop to chat to various two and four legged friends around the town! I love being involved in our local community, and currently chair the Board of Directors at our local health centre. Recent times have ensured this has been a busy and interesting role! I LOVE to cook, especially with wine. Sometimes, I even put it in the food… The kitchen is definitely my happy place.
